Hi,

Started with Thrush/Bacterial infection symptoms about 3 weeks ago. I've had both Thrush, Step B and Staph A in the distant future so asked for swabs to be done at GP.

Expected them to come back with something but they came back clear.

I'm still uncomfortable down below and it's getting me down. Been trying the usual tricks:

No underwear as much as possible
Only washing with emollient over whole body
Using Multi Gyn acti gel to help with itchy/uncomfortable symptoms

Still feeling tender inside and discharge is irritating me.

Any ideas??

What discharge is there? Have you tried over the counter thrush treatments?

niqnet1 · 22/09/2018 09:44

Hi,

Not much discharge but more than normal and the discharge makes me itchy. It’s slightly white but not cottage cheese like.I tried canesten pessary last night plus cream. Not feeling any different this morning.

Thanks for replying x

Fluconazole? Sounds horrible.

niqnet1 · 22/09/2018 09:56

Yeah, might as well go get some today. Still not sure it is thrush though. Can swabs miss something? Perhaps I should ask for repeat swabs??

How old are you? - could this pre-menopausal irritation?

donajimena · 22/09/2018 10:04

You might be better off going to a sexual health clinic. Its not just for nasties! I had vulval dermatitis which the gp couldn't diagnose.

megletthesecond · 22/09/2018 10:07

I was going to as how old too.
I've had more problems in my 40's than I had when I was younger.

megletthesecond · 22/09/2018 10:08

*ask not as.

You might need a course of thrush tablets. I had three over the period of a week prescibed.

How old are you? Have you recently given birth, breastfeeding, generally run down? Lots of things can affect the balance of your vagina.

niqnet1 · 22/09/2018 10:12

I’m 34 x I’m not sure I can get a gp appointment anyway so may well be heading to gum clinic this week x

Kids are 2 and 5. Not breastfeeding. Not particularly run down but extremely stressed at the moment due to redundancy next month. Symptoms started the week my redundancy was confirmed.

What about the BV gel?
When I found thrush treatments didn’t work, I tried that and I felt much better

Thishatisnotmine · 22/09/2018 10:17

Just a though - you might be better with pants on rather than off. If you're wearing trousers aren't the seams rubbibg ir pressing in you? If you are already irritated this would not help.

(Threw on a pair of jeans this morning instad of pj bottoms and currebtly sat with dd2, very uncomfortable!)

niqnet1 · 22/09/2018 10:24

Tried Multigyn acti gel which is a bv gel for two weeks before trying canesten last night.

Just wearing long skirts with no pants. No trousers for me at the mo.

Thanks for the suggestions x

I have had exactly the sam. Started with thrush around 3 weeks ago, got Fluconozole and that didn't clear it. Went to the drs they took a swab and prescribed pessary & cream. Over a week later after using both and still have thrush symptoms. Been back today and the dr said the swab came back clear and I didnt/dont have thrush! Not really sure what else to do now as she wouldn't prescribe anything else!
