Lump in breast "post" breastfeeding

I put "post" in inverted commas as I am stroll breastfeeding but I haven't breastfed from the breast with a lump for over a year. I previously had a lump in the same breast which I had removed and I think the surgery to removed it affected the milk ducts as I could never produce as much from that side (I exclusively expressed for a while and the difference was notable). I am now a year on and have quite a solid lump marginally below and under my nipple. I know I need to get it checked. But I suppose I'm looking for an alternative, logical solution - is it possible that it's milk that had built up? If I squeeze my nipple I can still get milk from there but obviously not much. If I squeeze the lump itself then no milk appears. The lump is hard and painful if pressed.

Always get lumps checked out. I had the same thing a few weeks ago and was referred to the breast clinic. I didn't breast feed my DD though (6months) so I had no idea what mine could be. Turns out I have fibroadenoma, lumpy breasts basically! I spoke to the nurse at the clinic and she said the general rule is that something more sinister tends to not be painful, though in very few cases, they can cause pain. Because you breast feed, it could very well be a blocked milk duct. But the only way to get a straight answer would be to get it checked out! Best of luck.

Your theory sounds plausible but really nobody can say over T'internet. It sounds like you've had it a while & hasn't gone away by itself so it's worth getting checked out. It's probably nothing bad.

Go get it checked out. This was in the papers today www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6150715/Heartbroken-mother-32-diagnosed-incurable-breast-cancer-two-months-giving-birth.html
