Persistent bleeding

I'm 24 and have been experiencing bleeding between periods for over a year now - I'm bleeding for 3 weeks out of 4, and it's a mixture of brown blood & red blood.

My GP originally thought it was due to the pill I was on, so I changed pills but this didn't have any effect. As I was too young for a smear test she referred me to a colposcopy which I had in May. The bleeding continued so I went back to the GP where she did a smear and referred me back to the Colposcopy clinic - the smear came back clear & I've just received a letter from the colposcopy I had back in May which was also clear (and very dismissive).

I'm really not sure where to go from here, and wondered whether anyone had any similar experiences and could advise? Unfortunately I cannot afford to go private.

Which pill are you on? If it’s mini pills it doesn’t matter which one you are on, changing from one to another won’t make a difference to the bleeding. I’ve tried them all. Could you come off the pill entirely for a bit and see if it stops? Then you will know for sure if that is what is causing it?

Have you had an ultrasound? Any blood tests? Bleeding so much is not something you have to accept.
