Hi All

Anyone else had their mirena Coil strings gone missing???

Cutting a long story short I've had my mirena in 2 months and I HATE it, I've never had so many issues since having it in. Been to my local sexual health clinic where 3 nurses and a doctor have tried to find the strings with no luck. I have a scan booked at the hospital now in Sept to locate it. I know it's still there as I'm constantly getting discharge which I have been on antibiotics for and my stomach is so bloated Sad

I'm worried about the removal process when they locate it as it hurts like mad when they put it in !!! All I want is this coil gone .... anyone else had same situation????

Not exactly in the same situation as I love my mirena but can rarely feel the strings as I have a tilted womb. Throughout your cycle the position of your cervix will change, it lengthens and shortens so if the strings Are cut short they may disappear and then pop back out, if you still want rid of it then you may need a gyne to remove it, they do this kind of thing all the time so are better equipped to locate lost strings and can give you a local anaesthetic so you won’t feel it.

Thanks for your message, I hope they locate it quickly and remove it 😬 but it's good to hear that they can offer pain relief x

My strings have also gone awol but I am happy to leave it there until it’s time to remove it. I had a scan to confirm that the coil is in the right place.

Watching with interest to see how awful removal is likely to be!

I was totally railroaded into having the coil
In the first place but to be fair it’s been painless and a good solution for me.
