Buttonhole tear recovery

Hello everyone. This is my first post and was hoping for some advice.

I suffered a Buttonhole tear while giving birth to my DD 13 weeks ago. I was just wondering if anyone knows when it will be safe to be intimate with my partner again?

At my six week check up I was healing well, although I still had stitches in place. The consultant advised me to wait until I had healed before having sex, but he didn't say how long this would take.

My partner is very supportive and wants to wait until I feel ready, so I am under no pressure.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Not a personal experience, but my friend had a buttonhole tear, and she had problems for up to about 3 months externally.
I think her GP actually told her that it can take up to 18 months to heal internally, but once the outside is healed she was good to go.

She was in so much pain she wasn't able to drive for a few months too, it sounds bloody awful!

Thank you for your message @ProcrastinatingPingu. I'm sorry to hear your friend has had such a rough time. I've been very lucky as I have healed externally very quickly. It's just not knowing what's going on inside that's a bit frustrating!
