Tampons leaking after babies

Hi all, I am 5 month post partum with baby 2 and my period has come back. My period isn't heavy but I have found that tampons are leaking all the time. This happened a little after baby 1 but much more so now. I am not flooding and in fact the tampons aren't even full, but there is constant leakage around them. For that reason, I don't really want to step up in absorbency as it really isn't required.

Both my deliveries were normal with really minor 2nd deg tears which healed well with sutures. I have no incontinence or anything like that. No complaints from DH in the bedroom department.

Have I just got a bit baggy down below so tampons don't fit right any more? Will pelvic floor exercises help? Will it just get better? Do I need to bite the bullet and get a mooncup?

Thanks in advance!

Which tampons are they? Most Tampax expand longways whereas lillets expand widthways. I prefer lillets now

Often just supermarket own brand. Maybe I'll give lillets a try. I think widthways expansion is definitely what I need!

Thanks!

I found after my second that tampons never fitted fully, whichever brand i tried. Unfortunately it means (24years on!) I have to use both tampons and towels. I did however have a traumatic delivery resulting in lots of internal scarring so you're may still improve in time

I’ve just gone for towels now as I’m sick of the leakage and they also seem to slip more. My pelvic floor isn’t even bad, just things are different down there now. The slim ones with wings are fine. I only double up with a tampon when I’m doing a gym class now.

Tampax pearl expand widthways as well, they are the only ones I can use.

Get a Mooncup - they’re fabulous. I got the smaller size, which is recommended if you’re a) under 30 and b) haven’t had a vaginal birth. After having DD I fulfilled both criteria, and I was a bit worried it would just plop out, but it didn’t seem to make any difference.

Honestly, I’m evangelical about them. Just don’t drop it on a white tiled floor. It was like that scene in The Shining!

To clarify, I bought the Mooncup before getting pregnant, not because I thought I had some sort of age-defying fanny! Grin
