I lose 90% of my menstrual blood in the first 24 hours of my period

I assume it’s peri menopause (I’m 43) but my friends who is 35 said she is similar and reckons it’s since she’s had children.

So my cycles used to be anywhere between 26 and 28 days and my period would tend to be heaviest on day 2 and then peter out. Now my cycles are between 23 and 27 days long and my period appears sometimes very quietly sometimes just bang and it’s there but the first day of proper flow is just ridiculously heavy. It basically just falls out of me constantly for 24 hours and then the following four days I get a tiny amount of a panty liner.

I wear a mooncup and it is pretty much full to the brim every few hours. This month I dared to leave the house to attend a play date and lost track of time. I felt a gush and had to run to the toilet and there was blood all over my trousers and pants and the mooncup was overflowing.

I meant to end by saying is this really weird and unusual or does anyone else have the same?

Same. Possibly peri menopause here. Also cycles slightly out of kilter by a couple of days now.

I have something similar. Periods are regular and I am ovulating. The first day is usually very heavy and the second medium to light and the third very light. Total blood loss seems to be the same as I used to get in 4-5 days and period frequency is the same. Why do you think it is peri? I was also thinking maybe it is related to childbirth. It is very annoying.
