Surgery to remove 9cm endometriom

Fairly new to mumsnet but figure this is a place to find women with a wealth of knowledge. I have been having cramps / pain / etc. And after some tests have just been told I need laparoscopic surgery to remove an endometrioma (9cm x 7cm x 8cm).

To me that sounds massive?!? Is that normal? I haven’t been given much info about the risks or what this might Meehan for the future in terms of recurrence and TTC or waiting times (booked yesterday but no one could give me an idea if it would be weeks or months).

Anyone got any information or advice?

Thanks - feeling a bit worried about it all

Hi, I’m not having anything as urgent as yours removed but my paperwork says 12 week wait at the very most. I imagine yours would probably be sooner. They said they can cauterise most of it and it will actually greatly increase chances of conception. Hope this helps
