Results from recent test / bacterial vaginosis

Hey,

wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

I recently went to the doctors as i was sure i had some sort of thrush/infection. After being examined, the doctor seemed sure Ii had bacterial vaginosis and prescribed me antibiotics. She also took a swab test.

Since then, i've received a letter from the doctors saying i need to book a routine phone consultation to discuss my results.

I'm hoping the letter is just to confirm i have bv and nothing else. Is this usual to send out a letter even when a doctor has told you what the problem is? I've also taken STD tests and know 100% that i don't have anything.

i'm stressing out that they've found something else.

Have the antibiotics helped?

I’m sure it’s fine.
Don’t panic

Hey thanks for replying. Yeah i'm panicking a lot about this.

I've taken most of the tablets, but i had such a bad reaction i've had to stop. The bv seems to have cleared up, but will need to go back regardless and get some alternative bv treatment.

Just hoping it's routine to send out a letter! Eek

I wouldn’t worry, in my experience I think it is fairly normal for someone from GP (either dr or nurse) to speak with you as a follow up after having some kind of test to discuss the results - even if it is just confirmation of the diagnosis/advice about how to prevent/treat etc. If they’ve already prescribed medication, it’s also a good chance to check how you are getting on with it etc.

You can buy the treatment OTC, you don't need a prescription. It's just a gel you squeeze up there at bedtime for a week. It would be handy to have BV confirmed though.

Thanks everyone. All sorted and the test actually showed clear results, which was odd!
