Sensitivity to fatty alcohols/acids in skincare

Hi All

I'm hoping someone here can help me as I'm in desperate need of it!

I have ridiculously sensitive skin & my skin becomes irritated by most products...including ones designed for sensitive skin. Last year I had an allergic reaction to a foundation...my skin burned & turned red. A couple of weeks later my normal products started to sting on application (Boots Sensitive Baby Wipes to remove makeup & Nivea Cream moisturiser). The Nivea Cream has lanolin alcohol in it which I seem to be able to tolerate for some reason. Since then my skin has been so unhappy & I've really struggled finding products that don't cause a reaction...I've spent small fortune.

I've searched high & low for products without these alcohols in (cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol & a lot of emulsifying waxes) but with very little luck. A lot of cleanser without these ingredients are foaming ones which dry out my skin leading to more problems. I'm pretty sure my skin barrier is compromised but I'm at a loss of how to repair it because everything a put on my skin causes further irritation. I tried using noting but the pain from dry skin was unbearable!

All the emollient creams I have found contain the alcohols too. I'm just hoping someone here is an expert or gone through this themselves & found an answer! Keeping my fingers crossed for a solution as it is affecting my mental health considerably.

Thanks in advance
Julia
