Early heavy period - worried.

Yesterday my period started a week or so early, and was and is still very heavy. Yesterday evening I leaked through my trousers onto the sofa Blush and it has been unusually heavy since with little clots and bright red blood...sorry if TMI. Exhausted too Sad

At what point do I get medical advice? I don't think it's anything more than an unusually heavy period but I can't help but worry.

I have had this quite regularly over the last few years because (I think) of perimenopause.
I think the advice is to seek help if you are soaking through protection every hour.
It might be worth ringing nhs direct to get advice.
Also if you are feeling very tired go to the go to get a blood test as you could be anaemic.

It could just be, as you say, an unusually heavy period. I had one once and it really took me by surprise. It was at a very stressful time of my life, so I wondered if that had anything to do with it.

Monitor it - it may tail off. Anything else going on at the moment that could account for it? New medication, other health issues?

Seems to be lighter today. Still a little tender around my belly but otherwise ok.

Bigbreasts - yes, quite a stressful time at the moment, over running landscaping work which means we haven't been able to use the garden much of the summer Sad

Might get a check up anyway as my anxiety has been through the roof recently (again because of the building work) and associated palpitations etc.

This could be the beginning of peri menopause. It can last up to 10 years, my periods got much heavier (flooding) from about 43 onwards. Mind yourself
