Mirena wires

Evening all. Quick question for anyone who's had a Mirena coil. Had my second one put in a couple of weeks ago. The wires seem much longer than my last one - to the point where they're nearly poking out! I haven't noticed them being particularly long before today.

Sounds daft, but are they likely to move upwards on their own or should I get the doc to trim them? I can't feel the coil itself and it doesn't feel like it's moved out of place. No other symptoms.

Ta!

I'd get it checked as the coil could have moved position. The threads can be trimmed too

I'm on my second one too, I felt the strings much more with the first-I think my gp must have trimmed them shorter this time.
If I was you I would go back and get it checked in case it has shifted, if everything is fine they can trim the strings a bit shorter.
(Your description of 'wires' and 'poking out' made me clench. Blush)

Thanks, both. I'll call the surgery on Monday. Definitely too long for whatever reason.

My threads are very long, I sometimes check them in the bath, and if I straighten them out they do almost reach the outside. Usually they wrap around my cervix, and my partner has never complained, I asked him a few times in the early days, but he claims to not be able to feel them at all.
