Hi

Have any of you had a diagnostic laparoscopy? How was your experience and what was recovery like? I'm starting a new job and a DH who is away a lot so just wondering how I will manage with that and a little one too. Ive been offered one to check if i have endometriosis (it didnt show up in ultrasound & consultant said no point doing MRI as its inconclusive). Thanks

Hi - I had one three years ago. General anaesthetic, in and out of hospital within a few hours but was more tired than anticipated. Took a week off work but still felt rough when I returned! Didn't have any soreness from the stitches but did need to rest a lot more than I thought, as I was generally fit and well beforehand. Hope all goes ok for you Smile

Ruby thanks for replying. It looks like I'm going to need to ask work for 2 weeks off. May I ask if you had a MRI before the laparoscopy? Did it show anything?

If you have a DC could you arrange any childcare for a few days OP? I think you may find it hard running round after a toddler, for example!

I didn't have an MRI but did have an HSG beforehand, they went ahead with the laparoscopy as that was inconclusive (we had been TTC for about 2 years by that point). After the laparoscopy I was told all was ok, tubes clear, no endometriosis etc. We went on to have IVF for DP's poor sperm count and now have twins Smile

You will need someone with you at the hospital - they should have warned you of this already if you're having a GA - but it's useful to have someone else there as you probably won't take in much they're telling you when you wake up!
