13 year old DD periods

DD has had periods for about 5 months but they haven’t settled. She’s getting a lot of flooding, very long spells of bleeding and sometimes has periods every couple of weeks.

I’m concerned she’ll become anaemic if it doesn’t regulate soon. How long do we wait until seeing GP? Anyone have a similar tale? Thanks

I'd see the Dr now tbh

Heavy erratic periods can be a sign if anaemia already.

Sounds really hard. Your poor dd

I know it can take ages to settle (I think up to a year or so) but if it is causing her distress then it may be worth talking to your Doctor about it. My younger DD has very heavy periods and very painful cramps but I think that is normal for my family as older DD and myself were the same at that age. Also took several months to settle into a regular cycle (8 - 9) I think.

Thanks both, I’ll make an appointment. No cramps fortunately
