I had a mastectomy 10 years ago and never had a reconstruction. I do have a dog ear under/behind my armpit and its causing me some annoyance. It gets in the way and sticks out of armholes of sleeveless tops. Its getting me down to have this constant reminder of the cancer . I can hide the prosthesis under high necks and my hair grew back a long time ago but this stupid lump is the last straw.
I want to ask my gp fpr a referral as I never had it done after the original op as I was so sick of hospitals .
But Ive read there is an application process now for these as they have to be applied for even though they were previously just a side issue following breast cancer surgery. Is this true and what hoops do I have to jump through to get this done ?
