I think I'm doing something wrong with my mooncup.

I have caved and brought a moon cup, the week before and the week of my period, every thing makes me itchy and uncomfortable including all pads and tampons so I brought the cup.

It arrived, I sterilised it and inserted as the picture shows. I have been having draggy cramps since. What have I done wrong. They started as soon as I put it in so it can't just be usual cramps. It's comfortable so have I done something wrong or does it just take getting used to?

Also, can I sleep with it in?

You should be able to sleep with it.
How are you inserting it? Maybe you're putting it too high? It sounds unusual x

userofthiswebsite · 12/07/2018 19:00

Yes you can sleep in it. On light days I only change it once every 12 or 24 hours.
Maybe it didn't unfurl properly. Try removing and re-inserting it. Otherwise maybe you put it too low or high.
I do like it but sometimes I find it puts pressure on my bladder and I can't go to the bathroom properly.

I've got some 100% cotton washable coming in the post incase this doesn't work for me. I'll try reinserting to see if it's any different. If I can get comfortable then this will be a monthly game changer for me. Smile

Have you trimmed the stem?
Try putting it in and taking it out a few times; when it’s in give the bottom of it a twist and squeeze your pelvic floor muscles a few times - might help it settle into a comfortable position.

Apologies, its just a pet hate of mine..

CheckoutFive · 12/07/2018 19:09

I think I have the same issue with mine. It gives me a dull ache/cramps when I have it in. I've trimmed the stem right down, checked positioning is right, and persevered with it but it still happens Sad

If it's in too high, it can press against your vaginal walls and create some odd sensations

Take it out, rinse, and re-insert. Then work out how much to trim off the stem - that will make it more comfortable too
