Delay in breast cancer diagnosis

Fifteen years ago I had a delay in the diagnosis of breast cancer. My GP didn't refer me even though I had a breast lump, and then, when I was eventually referred, I didn't receive the Triple Assessment - clinical examination, imaging (mammography or ultrasound) and biopsy.

At the time my daughter was very young and what upset me the most was the thought of her being left motherless and her not being able to remember me. Luckily for me, the breast cancer has not come back.

Recently my breast clinic had another delay in diagnosis and over the years there have been quite a few cases nationally in the press.

I wondered if anyone on Mumsnet had suffered similar delays in breast cancer diagnosis.
