Hi l'm new and could really do with your thoughts please.... This is quick a Frank post as l figured the more info l give the more informed advice l am likely to receive.... Happy to answer any questions. Thanks in advance x

l'm 43; three children - youngest is 7... Have always had regular periods; not using contraception as dp had the snip several years ago.... had normal period which finished on about 19th June; sex on 20th - no issues.... after sex yesterday however l started to bleed - red blood like you have with a cut - and having period type pain and am now bleeding as if l am having another period though lighter... having nasty cramps too.... seems too heavy/'serious' to be breakthrough bleed from a miraculous pregnancy.... does this mean l am perimenopausal?! Any other ideas. Thanks in advance.

I experienced a cyst that had burst - symptoms were cramps, bleeding for twelve days, clots, heavy flow. Doctor put me on tablets that stop/slow down heavy bleeding - they didn’t work. On having a womb/stomach scan it was found to be a burst ovarian cyst. If it doesn’t stop see your doctor.

Thank you for your response.... l have had a cyst rupture before and the pain is nothing like that - that was hideous! - it is like a slightly milder period cramp but still very much there... the bleeding isn't filling a pad but there is always blood when l wipe and it seems to be becoming more... l guess l should just monitor it. Any idea when a home pregnancy test would work if this were to be a miraculous implantation bleed? Thanks x

Update... and more advice/experience please...

Bleeding still continuing... still painful. GP examined me and has referred me for an urgent pelvic scan given my complex gynae history and advised me to go back Friday is still bleeding... said should get scan within 1-2 Weeks! Glad that he is being thorough but am a little concerned.... Anyone else been through similar? Thanks x
