Contraceptive dilemma.

I was on the depo injection for over 10 years. I had no periods and it really suited me. I had a bone density scan which came back fine. My doctor persuaded me to have the implant as she said it was the same hormone.
I am having a nightmare with it. I bleed for half of each month on and off, I am as hormonal as hell and I am putting on weight. I had bariatric surgery five years ago and could not stand going back there.
I feel I have had bad advice and it is not the same hormone. I am thinking of going back to the family planning clinic and asking for it to be removed and go back onto the injection. I feel they may try to persuade me with a coil but I am not sure about those either.
Please help me decide my case as I can't stand spending the summer in black trousers 'just in case ' and crying in my bathroom as I realise I am bleeding again. Oh and I'm not even going there with my sex life!

Hi, I hope you have managed to have it removed by now. I was constantly bleeding on it. They are not the same. There are progesterone only pills and a few different types, could you not try that? Or combined pills? I find pills best because you can just stop them if they aren’t working for you. Good luck!

I'd just ask for depo again if you were happy with it

I paid to have it removed privately and went straight back on the depo. The bleeding stopped straight away, I lost 4 pounds in weight in two weeks and I feel like me again. It was the best decision I have made for quite a while!

Ahh I’m glad it’s sorted! Implant problems are so depressing ..
