I'm going for one on Wednesday. Been having lots of bleeding after sex. (clear of all STI's) Just wondering what to expect

I had a hysteroscopy and d&c last Wednesday under general anaesthetic so I can only recount my experiences of recovery rather than how the procedure felt.
I had light spotting and cramping for a few days afterwards. Standing for too long caused bleeding and pelvic pressure and more intense cramping.
One week on, while I am still tired (although this could be because I have crime scene periods and therefore possibly anaemic), the cramping is barely noticeable.

Just had one, I found it painful, would ask for it under general next time!!!

IamEarthymama · 27/06/2018 22:08

Had one in May, can't say that word at all
All good news for me, staff were fab
I tried having epidural but it was horrendous

General anaesthetic and one week recovery
I am post menopausal so I think it was less drastic
You will be fine, I met some lovely women and was treated so kindly

Local would have be fine!!! It just really hurt - staff lovely I didn't feel awkward.

I had one after a local only and it was slightly uncomfortable - had polyps removed and this was the only ‘wincy’ bit. Try not to worry - if you do find it very painful they will stop and get you booked back in under GA.

I had one under local and it was fine. Only painful bit was when they took a biopsy of the womb lining. And that only took a second. I took two paracetamol beforehand. I needed to have a big polyp removed, so i had another one under general for that.

I had one with nothing and it was fine. No pain even though it took the dr ages to gain access ( me being post menopause) so you ought to be fine. I had the option of a GA or local; plan was to go with nothing (my choice) and use a local if the pain was bad (which it wasn't.)

Good luck.
