Help - fibroid growing VERY fast, worried

saratustra · 21/06/2018 20:34

I have a few fibroids, biggest 10cm, which never really caused any trouble even during pregnancy - I had my gorgeous DD 14 weeks ago via ELCS because I was afraid of potential complications.

I went to see my GP yesterday because since birth I can feel the big one just touching my belly, I couldn't feel any from the outside before, and it's growing really fast. The doctor referred me for a scan straight away and I'm panicking. I know fibroids are not really dangerous, but this growth makes me think it might be something else and I'm really scared. My mum died from cancer in her early forties and I'm 40 now.

Any reassurance welcome xxx

I don't have any advice but hope someone comes along soon that can help Flowers

Try not to worry (easier said than done, I know). Your GP seems to be doing the right thing. Have you got a scan date yet?

saratustra · 21/06/2018 22:29

Thank you for replying. No date, he said I would get a letter and would get the scan within 2 weeks. He also said something like: "if you had a section they've seen it", no further explanation, which made think he was worried.
I'm totally out of my mind. I should focus on taking care of my little girl but I can't :(

I am not a doctor or anything like that, but it sounds as if things may have shifted around a bit as a result of your giving birth. Try mentioning it to your health visitor - have you a visit soon?

saratustra · 22/06/2018 23:33

@Giraffey1 thank you for your reply - no I don't have any visits soon, but I might call the maternity helpline on Monday - not sure but maybe they can reassure me. I got date for the scan on the 3rd of July.
What you said makes sense, my belly was humongous and I know cutting was difficult due to the many fibroids so maybe things are in a different position... I want to think because I just had my periods back that might have an effect on how I perceive the size of my belly.

Thanks again x

I have a huge fibroid too, every month when it swells (they swell whenever they get a burst of estrogen) I feel like I'm 5 months pregnant and actually start believing I am for a few days!

saratustra · 23/06/2018 12:18

Thank you @CookPassBabtridge

I'm really scared though

I thought I would give an update! So I got the results of the scan an the gp said: "fibroids. Big, but just common fibroids, nothing to do about that ". He sounded a bit annoyed that I've wasted his time... He was the one who rushed me for a scan, but well!

Apparently they're not bigger than they were, maybe as pp said they shifted around in pregnancy and that's why I can feel them now, and probably as also said my periods (plus new position) make them feel huge.

Thanks all for your replies. Now I'm obsessing over different symptoms but starting therapy next month so hopefully I'll get it under control soon. Xx
