Any Great Crested Newt experts out there?

I wonder if there is anyone out there with knowledge of Great Crested Newt protection who would be willing to answer a few questions for me?

Very little... But if you're planning to go anywhere near any newt species at the moment, leave it until June, it's breeding season.

..."the great crested newt is strictly protected by British and European law which makes it an offence to: kill, injure, capture or disturb them; damage or destroy their habitat; and to possess, sell or trade. This law refers to all great crested newt life stages, including eggs."
