Anyone else’s badgers quiet

We have had regular nightly badger visits for the last few years to our garden(live in the edge of woods and fields), we do throw peanuts out for them to enjoy and get awful snuffle holes (and trenches Hmm) in return but the last couple of weeks nothing. I am just surprised as it’s not been terribly cold I would have thought they would keep coming especially as their sett isn’t far! Has anyone else noticed this? Our foxes that visit haven’t been as frequent either, but the squirrels are out in full force…

No badger evidence here this year. But I'm not surprised, because the bit of waste ground I suspect they came from - or at least through is now a housing development.

Oh no @ProfessorBinturong thats terribly sad, I was so excited to see badgers in the wild when we first spotted them. Developers are trying to get permission to build near us and it makes me worry about the larger creatures like badgers foxes etc that use these scraps of land that are deemed wasteland not to mention the actual green belt and fields.

They are less active in winter as a rule.

In general, perhaps, but late autumn/early winter has always been their time for invading my garden and shoving their noses in the lawn. It's disappointingly hole free this year.

We are facing a dilemma now about throwing peanuts out on an evening in case the badgers visit only to see them uneaten as dawn breaks and watching the squirrels scoff the lot! I think we will have to pause until we see fresh signs from them…
