Things that live near me

I have made the effort, mainly for my son but anyone who likes nature benefits, of cutting together some of our trail cam footage. I’m hoping to do it every month or so.

We live in the rural North East of England not that far from a nature reserve so I have lots of spots for cameras!

I’ve uploaded my current batch to YouTube and thought this was a group who might be interested.

What a lovely idea. Great to see the various wild creatures.

Agapornis · 06/06/2025 10:36

Those woodcocks! I've never seen them in a group like that just chilling and having a drink, very cool.

kinkytoes · 06/06/2025 16:50

That's fantastic @CatOnAHotRadiator ! Beautiful imagery.

Do you not worry someone might steal your cameras? I've never left mine in a public place because I'm worried I'll lose them.

CatOnAHotRadiator · 06/06/2025 19:19

@kinkytoes its not happened yet. I tend to go off the beaten track and tuck them away somewhere quiet. I figure if someone else finds them they’re most likely people with the same mindset as me and so unlikely to disturb a trail cam!

A pal of mine was asked to set up his trail cams at a big tree nursery because they were getting a lot of muntjac and other deer, which were becoming a nuisance. When they viewed the footage, they were surprised to find that as well as deer and other wildlife, they'd filmed a man trying to break into one of their storage sheds.

for some reason, your link to your YouTube doesn’t show up in the app, but does in the browser. It’s lovely!

Blimey not what you'd expect!!

@silverbirches bet they upped security fast!

thanks @ErrolTheDragon. Wonder why it doesn’t like the app. I’ll try taking the link from my app next time and see if that works!

managed to get two trail cams out again this week. But got about a mile away yesterday to place a third and it was out of power and my batteries were in my other bag! At least I’m getting my steps in!

That’s great! Love the hare.Grin

Agapornis · 17/07/2025 07:51

Haha yes I also enjoyed the hare - I don't think it meant to go for a swim!

CatOnAHotRadiator · 17/07/2025 09:22

Shame the camera was wonky on the hare but the sheep used it as a scratching post 🤣

nahthatsnotforme · 17/07/2025 09:23

Ducklings 😍😍

RainbowZebraWarrior · 17/07/2025 14:40

Thanks for the lovely nature video, Cat. The lighting on the hare was stunning 😍
