What a silly question! Read it and find out!

janeite · 07/12/2008 19:16

Don't get too excited. It's okay but not as good as many people on here say it is. I was quite disappointed tbh and I say that as somebody who reads a lot of teenage fiction.

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 07/12/2008 19:20

Dunno, but the movie is due out soon I think.

sleepyeyes · 07/12/2008 19:29

The first is a great read, I read it in 2 days.
The second was good but nowhere near as good as the first.
I haven't read the other too but plan to soon.

Enjoy.

SuperSillyus · 07/12/2008 19:34

I'm going to read it soon, my sister is all into it and can't wait to take her teenagers to the movie when it opens. So she is certainly excited!
She's been sending me team jacob pokes on facebook and I've been thinking what is she on about

SniffyHock · 07/12/2008 19:35

I really enjoyed it. It's very light and fluffy (on a par with Harry Potter) but a good read that didn't require too much thought.

janeite · 07/12/2008 19:45

But Bella is sooooooo much more irritating than Harry!

justneedsomesleeppleasesanta · 19/12/2008 22:29

Bella needs a slap! She's so simpering.......... Go Jacob! (says one who has read em all!)

gallusbesom · 02/01/2009 07:21

got the three books at Christmas and I can't put them down - I was just the same with HP! Half way through the third one (Eclipse I think) and been hunting the net to see when the last one is out in paperback. I agree about Bella needing a slap too!

Just have to see the movie now!

Flamespar · 02/01/2009 07:53

Team Jacob pokes?!?!? I need them!

TotalChaos · 02/01/2009 17:28

Well written but ever so slightly trashy. Good fun.

janeite · 02/01/2009 20:15

I have just finished the third and fourth, after buying them for dd for Christmas. The 3rd was absolutely rubbish but I quite liked the 4th.

gallusbesom · 03/01/2009 07:08

I'm nearly finished the third and finding it much more predictable than the first two.

Fleurlechaunte · 06/01/2009 19:35

Read them all in a week and loved them. However I prefer the film. A bit too much teenage detail in the books for my liking and I am sorry but my Edward does not "snicker" or "chuckle".

Turns out that the author was going to write a 5th book written from Edwards' point of view - Midnight Sun, but someone released it onto the net before it was finished and she doesnt want to write it now. I am livid! You can actually read the first 12 chapters on her website, she put them there herself after the illegal posting.

mm22bys · 11/01/2009 21:25

I read the first one over Christmas and was disappointed (but often am if a book gets glowing reviews!).

Just started the second one today and so far so good, I thought maybe it being her second one it might be "better" than the first, but time will tell.

I think I've missed the run at the movies....

squilly · 12/01/2009 14:22

I found them readable...just.

I bought them after reading all the rave reviews on here and it's really my kind of thing, but I found it a bit superficial and not quite as good as I'd hoped. Maybe it was a case of setting my expectations too high. Perhaps it's because it's aimed at a teen audience.

I said it before, but I much prefer Kelley Armstrong's take on vampires/werewolves in the real world. Much more absorbing and well written.

Having said that, Twilight's not an awful book, just not a great one, imo.

HelensMelons · 12/01/2009 17:46

I am going to start twilight this evening - looking forward to it.

ImBettingOnAlice · 12/01/2009 17:49

I loved all 4 of them (as my name suggests - this will make more sense once you've read them!)
Mind-you, since I finished them I have read around the genre a bot more and found books i prefer. However, I think it is difficult to beat the sheer 'new love'/ teen love type thing that Meyer has going on in Twilight.
It is sweet and you will fall in love with a fictional character.

ComeWhineWithMe · 12/01/2009 17:54

I hated it ,started it when I first posted this thread and got halfway through and gave up I just don't get it .

I never give up on books .

am nearly finished with first....made the mistake of seeing the film first....but thought i'd read it anyway, fairly impressed. dd1 has just finished 3rd,threw a paddy cos i didn't buy the 4th today as its only in our shops in hardback. amazon do the paperback so she'll have to wait!!

intrigued about the first few chapters of a fifth.....

does Bella ever join them all??? guessing nobody will tell me that!

DeathByMonkey · 13/01/2009 07:30

I thought Twilight was brilliant - felt about 14 when I'd finished! The 2nd and 3rd have been good enough but not amazing, and I'm now trying to get my hands on Breaking Dawn but it's out of stock..extremely frustrating as I don't want to start reading anything else until I know how it ends and have got vampires out of my system!

However, I do wish Edward would stop calling Bella "love" - it makes him sound like someone's grandad. I know, he's 90-odd years old but still, it's just not sexy!

psychomum5 · 13/01/2009 07:54

fab book, and addictive.

plan on buying the entire set once you are halfway with this one.......I did!

worzelgummidge · 14/01/2009 12:02

I picked the first book up at least 4 years ago, with no idea it was teen fiction, and with no expectations at all. I LOVE them!!

I often find books disappointing if they are over hyped, but as I came to this blind I didn't have that experience.
They are certainly on my Top 10 list of all-time good reads.

Go Jacob??? Team Edward all the way.......

I like your name IABOA. I tried all combinations of Twilight names I could think of when I joined MN, and they had all been taken. I need to be more cryptic methinks

mayl · 10/02/2009 21:00

Love love love it!!!

I however am now in love with a fictional character which is slightly concerning....
