I know, nonsense but …

Always makes me want to retrain as a social worker or be a foster carer! Anyone else reading? Come sit with me and have a nice casserole followed by a sandwich lunch. And then do you want a bath or shower?

I wasn't too impressed with it. Don't think it's her best. At all.

I am a foster (grown up) child myself. I met a Cathy - she adopted me and I have a wonderful family despite my first 10 years weren't great fun.
I have never wanted to foster. So hard work.

I had thought she wasn’t writing any more books. Quite scary that an ex child would pull break into her porch in the middle of the night.
Cathy glass is someone I’d love to visit, see her house, meet her family and have dinner with - see if it meets my perception of how her life is! I’ve read all the books over the years.

I think most of them are completely fictitious tbh, although I do still love reading them.

No One To Miss Me

Just finished it, even more nonsense than usual (not sure why I still read them), and the writing style has gotten worse. Felt like the story was very short so bulked it out with lots of descriptions of what she was doing day to day like putting on her dressing gown and making salad.

Favourite moment was when Lily ate 6 bars of chocolate and Cathy tells the reader that’s a lot, she usually only has a piece of a bar.

Spoilers: would a social worker be allowed to just take a child home, continue to be the social worker of said child and the child’s biological mum, and continue legal care proceedings against the child’s biological mum? Seems grossly unfair.

At least poor old Paula had a bit of excitement this time with a man to date, and she got congratulated on her cottage pie.

I loved the early ones. Latest ones less so - feels like a different writer?? I’ve wondered about AI involvement.

I do enjoy how she always manages to give the ex- husband a kicking though!!

I also wonder about AI, the writing style was very peculiar. I haven’t read one of her books since the last one came out which must be a couple of years ago now, but it’s not how I remember her style at all. Long descriptions about a hearty casserole etc yes, but every little thing she does is one short sentence.

And all the other adults speak and act like her much more than they used to, they’re less distinctive as people.

I do feel they are largely fictitious and I suspect a story has been made about a girl turning up briefly and probably going within a few hours.

Paula was about 23 for about ten years and now she’s suddenly aged up to her early thirties!

Yes there is a change in writing style. I would like to know how much the author has made on these books tbh. Quite a lot is my guess.

And this crap with the son and wife being on their way to fostering. Are the next book to be about their experiences?

Most likely yes but simply just too much. This perfect son to continue mum's legacy.

I misread that initially as actual Cathy adopting you and thought "Oooh, it's Lucy on MN!"😄
