Anyone read A Better Life by Lionel Shriver?

I’m reading this on my kindle and I’m about 20% of the way through.

I really fancied the concept of this book but to be honest it’s not gripping me. I think it’s the writing style. It’s hard work to read.

I read We Need to Talk About Kevin years ago and I remember feeling similarly - great concept, but quite hard work to plough through (although I was quite gripped by that one).

Is it worth persevering..?

I was gripped by WNTTAK, so I moved onto this one and I never finished it. Just didn’t do it for me at all, and life's too short to force it.

Ah that’s a shame, I’ve read such great reviews of it as well.

I read it last year and did enjoy it - it does get better. Nowhere near as good as WNTTAK or Shall we stay, or shall we go. I always find LS's writing a challenge to read at first.

However, don't waste your time on Control Panel - it's the only book I've ever given up on.
