Best Translation of Ovid's "Metamorphosis"

I looked at the current Penguin edition by David Raeburn - don't know how accurate it is, but it reads very awkwardly in English...

I’ve got the Melville translation and I really like it. However, I’m not a Latin scholar so I can’t comment on the accuracy of the translation..

I've always meant to read Ted Hughes' Tales from Ovid

I recommend Stephanie McCarter's translation. It's accurate and readable, with a good sense of Ovid's wit and playfulness, which can often get a bit lost in translations. There are also good explanatory notes.

I read the Arthur Golding translation and really enjoyed it. The Penguin Classics version with Daphne turning into a laurel tree on it.
