Recommendations from you lovely lot please?

Hi

I've just got back into reading and also listen to audio books at work and need author recommendations please

I only really like fiction books about life in the 1800s, I've read all Catherine Cookson books and am making my way through Dilly Courts novels.

Can anyone recommend other authors who write the same sort of stuff?

I'd also like to try and broaden my reading genres but due to ADHD and hyper focusing I'm very set in my tastes haha

My other favorite books are memoirs of a geisha and Danielle Steels Silent Honor (don't like any other DS books!)

Have you tried Georgette Heyer? Her books are easy romances but there is quite a lot of detail about the Regency Period which I like.

Sarah Waters has written some wonderful novels set in Victorian times.

The Crimson Petal and the White by Michael Faber is good. I read it 10 years ago after a friend recommended it to me and it’s one of those books that I still think of sometimes.

Also agree with Sarah Walter’s. I started with Affinity.

The best book I’ve ever read set in that era has to be David Copperfield though.

Also look at Arnold Bennett. He was a contemporary of Dickens and at the time he was just as famous.
