This is going to sound so ridiculous but I keep compulsively reading absolutely awful ai generated feel good stories that keep popping up on my feed. Please help me and suggest some proper books! Easy escapist reading, nice friendly/cozy story lines.

I regularly recommend 'The Summer Book' by Tove Jansson. Gentle, heart-warming, beautifully observed.

By all means read real books more, but why don't you just click on the three dots for each FB post you don't want to continue seeing and then click "Not Interested"?

I hate it. Just letting you know you are not alone! My one is a cute puppy that I watch while I have my actual really alive and breathing dog right beside me. Ludicrous.

I’m reading “Confessions of a forty something f*ck up” to also try and get off social media more.

Honestly, put your accounts to dormant and delete the apps.
Then read:
Rachel's Holiday by Marian Keyes - an Irish woman living in New York has a drug problem and is sent to a rehab centre by her family, she only agrees because she thinks it'll be full of celebs and essentially like a spa break. It's a fantastic read.

Really Good, Actually by Monica Heisey - 29 year old woman tries to navigate work, life and dating after becoming a young divorcee. Again, very funny.

Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn - a group of retired female assassins go on holiday together but discover they've become targets of a hit. A good bit of adventure!

The Black Dress by Deborah Moggach - reeling from her husband leaving her, Pru goes to her friends funeral, only to realise half way through she's at the wrong persons funeral! But she has such a good time at the wake she starts funeral crashing in order to meet a new man. Very good with some unexpected twists and turns.

Recommend buying from World of Books as they sell second hand books or, of course, go and use your local library!
