Contemporary British thriller recommendation for anyone looking for a new read

If anyone like me prefers intelligent, contemporary British thrillers to the 'gun-ho' American stuff and is looking for something new, I have just finished The Oedipus Cage by Adam Loxley and absolutely loved it. A real page-turner with lots of action, a cracking plot and plenty of twists, right up to the very last page.

I've just started Lindisfarne, a detective novel by LJ Ross. It was recommended to me in the charity bookshop I volunteer in, she's very popular. Not sure if that's the kind of thing you're after. If you're looking for a spy thriller set in the UK then take a look at Stella Rimmington's books.

Check out Henry Porter and Charles Cumming for spy thrillers. Alan Parks' Harry McCoy series set in 70s Glasgow is stunning. Also the Lennox series from Craig Russell.
Heard good things about the GB84 series by, I think, David Peace.
