Has anyone read this yet? I’ve just ordered it but I’m worried it may be a bit triggering?

I've got it from the library and will be starting it soon. Not too keen on the title so far. I think "Shame has to change sides" would have been better (by itself).

I listened to it, expertly and beautifully narrated by Emma Thompson. You will understand the title when you read it.

It is a challenging book in so many ways, but worth reading as we can only agree that the shame is not ours, but the abusers. She was adamant that it was rape and must not be called anything else.

I’m nearly finished it. It’s definitely not what I thought it would be. It’s more about Gisele and her abuser’s life than the trial. I’m surprised by his sympathetic she is towards her abuser throughout.

Me too! I finished it quite quickly tbh. She is still an amazing woman, but I think it would have been worse for her if she had any recollection of what those animals did to her 🤔
