Currently reading Mark Boyle’s book, called The way home, Tales from a life without technology, and I honestly can’t remember how long it it is since I read a book so soothing and comforting. Think also a Year in Provence and Simple Abundance, a day book of comfort and joy. Please recommend me books that you have read that made you feel all is well in the world.

Anything by Katherine May, Wintering and Enchantment are lovely.

I thought Wintering sounded great but then it turned out to a be smug un-self-aware irritant that just made me feel worse!

Tuesdays With Mortie - Mitch Albom

I also re-read Danny Champion of the World every few years.

Oh yes, both. Also

Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom.

I reread it, think I may have cried a little bit each time and yet... shifted my perspective on life just a nudge to be incredibly comforting.

The midnight library by Matt haig. Even better listening to Carey Mulligan reading it as an audiobook. I return to it time and again whenever I need soothing.

I felt the same about The Salt Path - turns out I wasn’t alone!
