Can anyone help me track down a childhood story?

[Thewolvesarerunningagain]

It was in a story compilation - perhaps something like Kaye Webb's 'I like this story'. It was about an elephant who went to a birthday party and had a nose bleed. I think it was the first story in the volume. Jelly and desserts featured heavily and at one point someone tried to cure his nose bleed by putting a key down the back of his shirt. Or have I lost my marbles?

This is ringing a bell - I'm thinking of one of the 'age' story compilations published by Puffin in the 1970s - 'Stories for Six Year Olds' etc. (there were several books for different ages).

That could be it Amethyst, thank you I will check these out
