Can anyone recommend some lovely, well-written and sympathetically-read audio books from Libby/Borrowbox or the lowest tier of paid Spotify please?

I normally read books but I'm unwell and want to stay off screens/printed sources as much as I can. And stop scrolling Mumsnet.

I like literary fiction and non-twee historical novels like Hilary Mantell. Cosy crime is okay but not anything graphic or upsetting.

Thanks in advance.

Borrowbox has all Kate Atkinson's Jackson Brodie books.
Another book i loved was Sarah Winman-Still Life- beautifully read.
Hope you feel better soon.

I’ve listened to a lot of Liane Moriarty’s books on BorrowBox and really enjoyed them.

Do you have Libby too? I enjoyed Intermezzo by Sally Rooney.

I loved Rosamund Lupton’s Three Hours read by Gemma Whelan.

Shuggie Bain was my favourite audiobook this year. I also enjoyed Prophet Song by Paul Lynch, An American Marriage by Tayatri Jones and My Name is Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout.

Hope you feel better soon.

Borrowbox and Libby all vary by which library area you are in. It is not universal. I like Robert Harris for literary fiction.

Ooh, I didn't realise that, thank you.

Prophet Song might be a little too unsettling for me, but all of these are available and I've reserved them.

Thank you! I have a chronic condition which I do hope to at least partially recover from but in the meantime need to rest a lot without overstimulation.
