F Scott Fitzgerald that kind of thing? I guess you would call it Modern American literature but that seems to vague. I also love Jean Rhys and other sad, succinct quirky little novels. Do you have any similar authors to recommend to me I feel like discovering someone new...

I have no idea, but my Dad loves Saul Bellow, and I need to get a late late birthday present or two, do you think John Cheever might be a good idea/ Would you recommend any inparticular? Sorry to hijack

I really like those authors too, and the beats, esp. Burroughs. Hva eyou read any Bernad Malamud? He's a similar era
