Books which have divided your book club

The recent revelations about ‘The Salt Path’ reminded me that it was one of the books that really divided opinion in our book club. People either loved it or hated. it, no one in between. This generated some really good discussion, more so than if everyone has a similar view of a book or if there aren’t such extreme differences

Which books have divided opinion most in your book clubs ?

Elinor Oliphant. Nearly everyone loved it, I thought it was awful

We didn’t have EO as a book club book as most people had read it, but it’s definitely a marmite book!

Butter and Leave The World Behind were our most recent ones that divides opinions massively.

I thought it was rubbish, too.

Lessons from chemistry. Some people loved it and the rest of us felt we had wasted our time reading it.
