Obviously all vampire books are fiction! Are there any good novels you recommend.

The Southern Vampire Mysteries/Sookie Stackhouse books are a good read.

An oldie but a classic, Salems Lot by Stephen King.

I watched the series with David Soul.

It was one of the scariest things I've ever seen.

I used to like Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series, a detective/vampires and werewolves cross over.

HarkerandBarker · 13/07/2025 23:52

Interview with a vampire.

Not sure if it's a book. I watched the film with Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Kirsten Dunst as the little girl. Excellent performances, expecially by Tom and Kirsten! Well made film. One of my favourites.

'No Rest for the Wicked' - Kresley Cole. Spicy, though.

Let the Right One In - John Ajvide Lindqvist

I think if you like vampires and the like, you'll love The Black Jewels Trilogy, by Anne Bishop.

Nocookiesforme · 16/07/2025 20:32

Chloe Neil's Chicago Vampires series is entertaining if you want something light and easy.
Anne Rice's books are (mainly) excellent - particularly the first 3 and then Tale of the Body Thief.
Charlaine Harris's Stookie Stackhouse/True Blood books are fab.
The original Dracula and Salem's Lot by Stephen King for the scares and for the really fluffy but entertaining type no one can beat the Twilight books.

That's putting it mildly...

The Historian, Elizabeth Kostova

MsPug · 21/07/2025 14:42

The southern book club guide to slaying vampires Grady Hendrix

CoubousAndTourmalet · 21/07/2025 14:53

Oh, good call @Hoolahoophop I loved that book.

ShipshapeShore · 21/07/2025 15:33

I enjoyed The Gathering by CJ Tudor recently.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 21/07/2025 15:39

The series that True Blood is based on, as others have recommended.

The Anita Blake series begins reasonably well but increasingly turns into the author playing out her sexual fantasies on the page, as far as I can see.

MrsSethGecko · 21/07/2025 16:07

The Anno Dracula series by Kim Newman- nice and gory and the stories are great.

dontcomeatme · 21/07/2025 16:15

The morganville vampire series is good. Very teen flick. Cool new take on vampires and how they work though. About 15 books in the series it's a fun read x

WhiskyandWater · 21/07/2025 16:16

For frothy ones try the Queen Betsy vampire ones, really good characters if that’s your thing.
Loved the All Souls books too.

bilbodog · 21/07/2025 16:20

I am legend - the book the film with will smith was based on. Has a different slant on it from the film.

pyewatchet · 21/07/2025 17:26

Second the Anno Dracula series, also Tanya Huff’s Blood/Victoria Nelson series
