Just finished this and was really disappointed by the last book. Up til then I thought it had some really interesting and quite novel aspects but the last one followed the same trajectory as so many: dispersed characters reunite after finding requiste powers and / or knowledge; final desperate battle that a rescue force turns up too just in time; a couple of big characters fall but no-one too major and everyone else neatly coupled up after the baddies are relatively easily dealt with. I'd have loved it if Aelin had actually had to die, or Dorian or even if they had actually lost. It would be such an interesting thing to just occasionally have an author do that. Is it just me? Does everyone else like the neat happy endings?
