Has anyone read this?
on the face of it, it was right up my street, family saga, big themes, climate, race, social class, some great characters (Rowan, Ned, Jack) and some greats twists and turns and beautifully written.
But…..I found Clara’s decision to do what she did at/after the funeral completely baffling. I know it was central to the plot and really important but it just seemed completely implausible for such a thoughtful and reflective and obviously intelligent character to do it…….and unlikely that so many of the family members would respond as reasonably as they did…..
would be interested to discuss with anyone who has read it.
