Can anyone have a stab at telling me the book/author from my description?

Might have been a series of books

starts in New York, there’s a female journalist who uncovers something and goes to London to break the story. The newspaper premises gets raided/shut down/colleagues attacked….possibly security services trying for the story to not get leaked

she gets roped up with police/someone in London who is helping her. Something to do with soldiers in Iraq/Middle East…..that the cia have secret torture flights/sites for suspected terrorists.

i think they go to Switzerland where there’s some big global summit and she pretends to be a cleaner to get access to find out what’s been discussed.

Could it be Extraordinary Retribution by Erec Stebbins.

No, just looked and it’s not that.

i seem to remember they had a rogue or ex Scotland Yard /met police officer helping them/passing them information in London.

I asked ChatGPT and it said: “Based on your description, the book you’re recalling is likely Extraordinary Retribution by Erec Stebbins. This 2013 political thriller follows a female journalist who uncovers a secret CIA rendition and torture program. She teams up with a former special agent, and their investigation leads them from New York to London and eventually to Switzerland, where they infiltrate a global summit by posing as staff to expose the conspiracy. The narrative includes elements such as government cover-ups, attacks on journalists, and international espionage, aligning closely with the details you provided.”

also suggested some non fiction

Thank you. It’s not that, but I tried ChatGPT as well and kept going. Eventually got there. The Novak and Mitchell series…looks like there’s one I haven’t read yet as well so that’s my next read sorted.
