I have never been a huge fan of the characters small hope and penny royal not sure why. I know there is a book that just focuses on them. Has anyone read it. Can u give me a review. Do I need to read it going forward? Is it worth a read.

I didn't mind Smallhope and Pennyroyal, but wasn't a particular fan. However, I absolutely loved The Ballad of Smallhope and Pennyroyal and from the ending of Lights! Camera! Mayhem! it sounds like some elements of the S&P book will be explored further.

I loved it. I listened to the audiobook (Zara Ramm just gets better with every book she does) but have since bought the Kindle edition for a re-read. Jodi Taylor fills both of these characters out, giving them solid back stories you can believe in. Amelia Smallhope's is a combination of loss, grief and utter hilarity, while Pennyroyal's really puts him into perspective. One thing that surprised me is that they are a lot younger than I'd imagined them to be from the earlier narratives. I think they'll stand up with more conviction in the St Mary's and Time Police books as a result of this outing.

I also loved the Smallhope and Pennyroyal book - as pp have said it adds a lot to their back stories and is very funny. You don’t need to read it to keep up with the St Mary’s/Time Police series though so it wouldn’t matter if you skipped it (but I recommend that you do read it!)

I listened to the Zara Ramm audiobook too. In fact I do for all the St Mary's she's fab.

I've literally just finished it & I loved it. I thought it was better than the last couple of St Mary's & Time Police books.
It was a perfect read & I'm sad it's over!!

I read it and didn't enjoy it.

Lots of alluding to things that happened in various books along the way without giving enough detail if you'd not read the books in a while or had forgotten some details.

And a relationship development that I didn't think was particularly believable, but that could just be me.
