If I like Liane Moriarty, Jodi Picoult & Dorothy Koomson, who else will I like?

I need some suggestions for my books like for Christmas. Not ridiculously happy ever after-y (eg Erica Mansell) and not too detective-y (eg Kate Atkinson) and definitely not gruesome (I have a few of those already on the list) but a nice yarn you can spend a couple of hours curled up on the sofa with as the in-laws approve of reading so you can get on with that and avoid family dramas

Other examples of authors I've like are Ann Patchett, Anne Tyler and Celeste Ng

Susan Howatch. Best ever. Start with the St Benets trilogy.

SereneCapybara · 13/12/2024 13:15

Celeste Ng. Especially Little Fires Everywhere.

Clare Mackintosh is very Judy Picoult-y

Annie1290 · 13/12/2024 22:17

Kristin Hannah is very similar, I think.

Jojo Moyes? Fairly happy ever after ish but a decent read.

I do like a Cecilia Ahern too. I recently read Freckles and really enjoyed it.

Jo Jo Moyes is a good read..... especially the giver of stars.

Persianpaws · 14/12/2024 00:09

Adele Parks, Tess Stimson, Sam/samantha Hayes or if you haven’t read all her books already Marian Keyes. This charming man and the brightest star in the sky are very intense. All of her books have humour and a bit of romance without being chick lit predictable fluff.

I once semi seriously joked I wouldn’t mind amnesia if it meant I could read all Marian Keyes books as though for the first time!

I have read the entire lexicon of many of the authors suggested so you have hit the genre I'm looking for perfectly and I am delighted that there are a few authors I haven't come across
Thank you!

You might like my stuff. www.anniecookwriter.com to get a look at what I've published to date, and what I'm working on. Its A series about a 'magical' holiday house in the Lake District where people are kind of drawn, who are dealing wiht various life-changing traumas. The Teapot Cottage Series is fairly light but does address the different issues we grapple with as women; family problems, divorce, menopause, widowhood, guilt, lost love, and a fear of the future, etc. The reviews are mostly pretty good. Might be something you'd enjoy. 💛

I've also written a couple of what I call 'filler' novels. These are written on a much darker genre, but they are linked to the Teapot Cottage series in putting a little meat on the bones of tsome of the characters in the TC novels. I'm currently at my house in Italy for Christmas, and working on TC Book 6 and another filler. It's all on my website. I'm being interviewed by Lake District radio tonight, which is making me incredibly nervous, so instead of writing I am playing on social media today and seeing what everyone else is up to! 💛🙂

Sorry for the typos, I'm working off a slightly weird 'remote' keyboard with a mind of its own, and I'm learning that I have to check everything before I press the post button, since I don't appear to be able to correct anything after it goes live.
