It's a Scandi author. The main character is a woman who's either in the legal profession or in government, and it transpires she was in an accident as a teen where she managed to get out of a sinking car but either her dad or stepdad didn't- we later learn having seen her as a perfectly normal likeable character- that she prevented him from escaping the car and saved herself. Then further on, maybe in the second book, her husband starts to behave badly so she kills him. Any ideas? Sorry it's so vague, but I really enjoyed the books and want to read more by the author.
