Has anyone read them? I'm on no 11 at the moment. What I love about them is not just the clever, intricate plots ( which I never guess! ), it's both the empathetic portrayals of the main characters, who you get to know more as the series develops, but also learning about the history of Istanbul and Turkey, the different nationalities that live there, their customs and traditions. I've never been to Turkey, but I'm dying to go now after reading these novels!

I’ve read most of them and enjoyed the first few, then found Suleyman’s sink into addiction deeply depressing. I know Turkey and Istanbul well and it has changed a lot since the 90s when she started writing, and not all to the good, but it’s a great city to visit.

Not read the books but watched the tv series on BBC recently- The Turkish Detective- based on those books.
