7 sisters - are they worth it?

I read the hidden lady which I really enjoyed so decided to invest in the Seven Sisters series by the same author as have seen lots of people recommend them.

Oh my days! I am half way through the first book and it's an absolute slog and not gripping me at all. Is it worth persevering with??

I felt the same about the first book - I did finish it but was skipping through by the end. I didn’t even try any more. However, it was my reading group choice and the other six members loved it and are still raving about the whole series. Each to their own, I guess. 😊

If you're already finding the first one a slog, I would honestly give up. There are actually 8 books in the series and it is hard going.

They are very hit and miss. I have read 6 of the 8 books and have taken a big gap in between finishing the last two. I actually don't know when / if I even will.

There are a few in the middle which are quite good though if you do decide to persevere.

I really loved them and eagerly read the whole series. However, I know some people didn’t take to them.

The stand alone novels by her are also good.

I felt the same way and gave up - it was so badly written!
I thought it sounded exactly my sort of thing and just couldn't get on with the first book at all.

My neighbour loved the series. I did not. I gave up on the first tried 3 &4 (thinking I'd go back to 1) but just couldn't read them.

I tried the first one and gave up. Shame really, because Lucinda Riley's other books aren't too bad.

If you’re not enjoying it don’t continue! I loved them but hated girl on the train which everyone else loved. Books are wierd like that.

I feel in the minority here as I really enjoyed them all, and am currently on the final one from Pa Salt's perspective! It's taken me a couple of years as I have read lots of others in between.

I do agree that they are fairly clunkily written - I listened to a couple on Audible which seemed to highlight this - but I am hooked to find out the answers to the questions that are still there from each book.

If you are not enjoying them though, move on! Life is too short to slog through a book that's not for you!
