I'm trying to find the title of a chick lit novel that I thought looked amusing.
It would be a fairly recent release and I probably saw it somewhere like The Works.
The plot involved having to go live in the Scottish Highlands. I can't remember if it was one of those "fake marriages to inherit the land" or "whirlwind romance and then discovering you now are very rich and own a big house in Scotland" plots - but it was that type of thing.
I think anyway 😁
Anyone got any ideas.

Anyone..... anyone?
I know it sounds like a terrible plot......😁

I don't know, I think I'd quite like to read it 😂

LordFartQuads · 19/10/2024 20:02

I'm reading this one at the minute

Needmorelego · 19/10/2024 20:04

@LordFartQuads (fantastic name 😁) no it's not that one but thanks for the suggestion.

The Cottage in the Highlands by Julie Shackman?

Can you remember what was on the cover?

Needmorelego · 19/10/2024 21:13

@YellowphantGrey thanks but not that one.
I think the cover was one of those very bright colourful ones with kind of cartoony drawn characters on the front - the style that's all the fashion these days 😁

Inherits a Scottish castle from great uncle Bill then gets snowed in with an enigmatic author?

One of the Glendale Hall books?

photodiva · 19/10/2024 21:29

I've read a couple like this recently but can't remember what either was called or who wrote them. Sorry.

I'll get me coat....

SilverShadowNight · 19/10/2024 21:33

Katie Fforde has written books like this - as have several others Smile

Needmorelego · 19/10/2024 21:40

Thanks all.
Some of these suggestions are a possibility.
@photodiva I know exactly what you mean - I frequently read a book and then instantly forget everything about it 😂
I've been googling but the algorithms are throwing Christmas set books at me and I don't think it was set at Christmas.
I'm planning on going to The Works tomorrow so maybe I will have a "oh that's the book" moment.

I'm not sure if I'm way off but The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella has a bright yellow cover and is set in the middle of nowhere?

Needmorelego · 20/10/2024 00:20

@justpoweringthrough it's not that one - but I have read it. I think the character ended up in the Cotswolds !

See if its on the Works website?

YellowphantGrey · 20/10/2024 10:22

It's not One Day with the Netflix series as the cover?

PJ04JCW · 20/10/2024 10:24

If it's the Cotswolds as well then definitely Highland Fling by Katie Fforde!

Needmorelego · 20/10/2024 10:25

@YellowphantGrey it's not One Day. I tried reading that a few years back but the main character irritated me so much I don't think I got very far 😁
(I was looking on The Works website last night. Found lots of other things I now want to buy but no mystery book......)

Emily by Jilly Cooper sprang to mind, but I think that was written in the 1960s. It’s one of my favourite books!

DaveWatts · 20/10/2024 10:27

Kilt Trip by Alexandra Kiley?

Needmorelego · 20/10/2024 10:28

@DaveWatts that one seems the most likely.
Maybe I will just go for that one 😂

DaveWatts · 20/10/2024 10:32

@Needmorelego they're probably all pretty much the same anyway I expect 😂

Not being snooty, I love a crappy romcom!

Needmorelego · 20/10/2024 10:34

@DaveWatts I know. They all do blend into one after a while.

I feel like this thread is going to cost you more than one book 😂
