Can you help me remember the name of this book..

DH is insisting he read a book of mine some years ago, but cannot remember the title or much of the plot so not a lot to go on.

It’s ringing a very distant bell and it’s driving me a bit mad.

Here is all I have to go on

it’s about a young Asian girl (possibly Muslim) who gets thrown out of home or leaves and moves in with a middle aged man (but not in a “dodgy” way.

Thats it - that is the only clue I have… any ideas?

Could it be White Teeth by Zadie Smith? A girl in it is raised by a strict Jehovahs Witness mother, and leaves home to marry a middle aged man she’s just met at a house party. The girl however in White Teeth was not Asian, but other than that sounds similar?
