Christmas/Festive cheesy romance/chick lit.

Okay, don't slate me, but I love Christmas and Festive themed chick lit and romance books. The cheesier the better. It is my 'curl up in my oodie with a hot chocolate' guilty pleasure and utter escapism.

I am looking for a new one but there are so many. Can anyone recommend one or a series even that I could check out?

Surely I am not the only one that loves a feel good festive cheesy book?😊🎄

Don't have any suggestions but do you have any recommendations ?

I love love love cosy, cheesy Christmas romance novels!
My usual style is thriller/crime but once November hits I’m all about the feel good Christmas books.

I can really, really recommend Sarah Morgan. Hers for me are hands down the best. I’ve read most of them and they’re all great. Enjoy!

Heidi Swain, Karen Swan and Cathy Bramley have written books in this genre. There's a few Milly Johnson Christmas books too.

Christmas at the Beach Hut by Veronica Henry, I read this almost every December and it's not my usual type of reading but I love it

delfttulipvase · 04/10/2024 07:17

Trisha Ashley has written a few books with a Christmas theme - Twelve Days of Christmas, Christmas at the Castle. There's one set in a cracker factory!

The Christmas Bookshop is excellent

Jenny Colgan writes some absolutely fantastic Christmas chick-lit that's well written and properly character driven, sometimes poignant and funny in places. No need to recommend-all her Christmas ones have "Christmas" in the title!

I love these books too ( and I have an English degree!). Just lovely, cosy entertainment!

My favourite is Winter Solstice by Rosamund Pilcher, the only one I have ever kept.
I also like the two Cathy Bramley ones. They inspired me to read all of her others. They have really well drawn characters and are set in beautiful locations. Some of the characters pop up as side characters in her other books, so you can see how they are getting on 😀

Miracle on Regent Street by Ali Harris
Going Home by Harriet Evans
Milly Johnson also has a couple of fun Christmas books.

I was coming on to recommend this one too Wink

A couple of years ago a MNer recommended Prudence by Jilly Coopet and I was surprised how much I enjoyed that one too.

And there's no shame in reading Christmas novels. I do it every year and really enjoy them.

I was going to say the same thing. I was going through my kindle last year looking for Christmas themed books and found The Twelve Days of Christmas by Trisha Ashley that I'd bought years ago and never got round to reading. I decided to read it and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It was warm and cosy and felt just right for Christmas, without annoying me by being too sickly sweet or overdoing the feel-good vibe. So much so that I bought a couple more for reading this Christmas.

This looks right up my street too and just the kind of thing I was looking for.

Christmas Shopaholic if you like Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic books

Noseylittlemoo · 05/10/2024 17:00

Oh yes I love a cheesy Christmassy story and have read several this year - I don't mind reading them at other times of year!
I'd recommend
A White Christmas on Winter Street , and The Christmas Love Letters both by Sue Moorcroft.
Finding Love at the Christmas Market by Jo Thomas
The Little Swiss Ski Chalet by Julie Caplin (not strictly Christmassy but the same cosy feel).
Ive also read Window Shopping by Tessa Bailey. The blurb suggested a christmas romantic story but it was more hot sex than hot chocolate veering into 50 shades of grey territory!
And one of the Jenny Colgan ones - Christmas on the Island Hotel.

YellowphantGrey · 11/10/2024 12:27

Any Sarah Morgan Christmas book is lovely. She releases one each year and she always puts a Robin somewhere on the front cover.

Heidi Swain and Karen Swan also release one each year.

And I always read Skipping Christmas by John Grisham before I watch the film version, Christmas with the Kranks.
