I used to love them back in the day. Riders, Rivals, Polo etc. Rupert CB. Radaldini. Lysander 😍.

I tried rereading one of them about a decade ago and found it deeply problematic because sadly, I've become the mousy, dumpy woman with opinions and short hair 😭

I wouldn’t, they’re like a bad parody of the earlier books - none of the beautiful writing about the countryside and well-developed characters, just terrible puns, cheesy lines, people you can’t bring yourself to care about and much-loved characters doing things they never would. Can you tell I’m not a fan? 😀

No! Tackle isn’t a story it’s a list of words . Quite the worst thing I’ve ever read.

No, but if you haven't already the 1970s 'girl's name' ones are great (Prudence, Imogen etc). She really could write in the early days!

Absolutely! Its terrible, I have tried to read it (never read a JC book before) and have now passed it on to a charity shop.

Dont waste your time or money.

I am a huge JC fan but Tackle is just dreadful. I was very disappointed.

Also, it will annoy you hugely if you know even a little bit about football.
